At 4am the harbour is already alive. Wooden dhows, some decades old, are loaded with nets and provisions for a day at sea. The fishermen of Massawa have worked these waters for generations — but the past few years have brought shifts in fish stocks, fuel costs, and the slow return of Red Sea trade that had long bypassed Eritrea's coast.
