Diplomats from Eritrea and Ethiopia signed a framework agreement this week outlining a revived trade corridor through Massawa.
The agreement marks the latest step in the normalisation of relations between the two countries that began in 2018. Massawa port, long underutilised, is central to the new framework, which envisages increased Ethiopian cargo traffic in exchange for joint infrastructure investment.
