On May 24th, Eritreans across the world marked 35 years of independence with celebrations, reflection, and calls for national renewal.

The streets of Asmara glowed red, green, and blue as tens of thousands gathered for the 35th independence anniversary. In the capital, the main parade down Liberation Avenue drew crowds that stretched beyond the old city walls. Abroad, Eritrean communities in Frankfurt, London, Washington DC, and Melbourne held simultaneous celebrations.
